About Standard Garage Door Sizes
An independent reference site that helps homeowners understand typical garage door dimensions, measure their garages and prepare to talk to suppliers and installers.
What this site is for
Garage door sizes are simple until you need one. “Standard” sizes vary by country, manufacturer and door type, and the space a door needs inside the garage matters as much as the opening. We bring that information together in plain language, with tools that make it easy to compare and convert sizes.
Editorial standards
- Typical, not universal. We present dimensions as typical or illustrative ranges and explain where they vary.
- Sourced. Reference figures are checked against publicly available manufacturer and supplier documentation. We link to sources on the pages that use them.
- No invented claims. We don’t publish fabricated statistics, reviews, testimonials or building-code requirements.
- Reference vs. specification. We distinguish our reference information from building codes and manufacturer specifications, which always take precedence.
- Reviewed dates. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed.
